LEDBURY FC manager Ian Merrick is hoping to replicate previous home form, where the side weren't defeated for over two years.
Merrick re-joined the side at the start of the month, having left the club at the end of the prior season. He replaced Matt Tunley who had endured a tumultuous start to the season with the side, with many key players having left alongside Merrick.
Since re-taking the helm, Merrick has overseen two fixtures with his side, a tough cup game, and a 3-2 loss in the league against Bromyard Town.
Despite losing both, the improvement shown in the Ledbury side is already clear, with Merrick hoping he can further improve the side through encouraging players that left the club with him to re-join.
Following the Bromyard defeat, Ledbury were set to face off against Kington Town last Saturday (November 23), however the game was postponed due to weather concerns.
"[The game being postponed] was a little bit frustrating, because we had a good performance against Bromyard," said Merrick. "But we had a few injuries, so it gave us an opportunity to just take stock, regroup and try and get a good result this week.
"I am hoping to have a couple more players back that played under me previously, a bit more experience, enthusiasm, players that I know very well and have done well playing for me previously."
Ledbury have endured a tough run of games in their league campaign, last picking up three points in September.
"Obviously when you are on a run where you haven't won, confidence can be fragile, but I think we need to start by winning our home games, getting three points at home," said Merrick. "When I was previously in charge, we didn't lose at home for over two years, we made it a bit of a fortress.
"So if we can replicate that to some degree, then that will give us a chance of putting some points on the board and climbing the table."
"We are out of both cup competitions, 13th in the league, really we don't have anything to lose," said Merrick. "When you are top of the league, you would take a point if you were away from home against a big team, because you haven't lost ground essentially.
"But we are in a position now where we may as well try to beat them and play attacking football.
"With the position that we are in, we are going to play attacking football, entertain the local community that have paid their hard-earned money to come and watch us.
"We are trying to build a style of play where we are confident, on the front-foot, high energy.
"We have got our core group of players, hopefully we will get a few more players back in the summer, and then next season is a season where we can kick on and hopefully challenge up the other end of the table."
In their next game, Ledbury play Clee Hill United at home.
A side in mixed form, Clee Hill have won two of their last five games in the league and currently sit ninth in the table - four points above Ledbury.
