LEDBURY Town ended 2023 with a victory as they maintained their place at the top of the Herefordshire County League Premier Division thanks to a 4-2 win at Evesham United Reserves.
Ledbury were playing in their final game of the year at the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium and they ended on a high as Ryan Dobbins' hat-trick fired them to all three points, with Tyler Weir also getting his name on the score sheet.
Having initially struggled for consistency in the opening weeks of the 2023/24 season, Ledbury have put a strong run together to end the year, winning five of their six games, drawing the other.
Title rivals New Dales Vale and Wellington are both five points off Ledbury, but have three games in hand over the current league leaders.
Vale will play two of those games in hand before the new year, so will have the chance to go top of the table for Christmas. They go to Ludlow Town Colts this weekend (December 9) before hosting Worcester United on December 16.
Wellington have also played their last game of the year so will have to wait until the start of 2024 to mount their challenge on the top of the table.
Ledbury will now rest up during the next couple of weeks before they have a mouth-watering clash with Vale in their first game of 2024 on January 13.
