IT proved to be a successful weekend across the board for Ledbury Cricket Club last weekend, as both first and second teams were victorious in their respective league matches.
The firsts played neighbours Eastnor 2XI in Division Eight of the Worcestershire County League, looking to maintain their winning start to the 2023 season.
Having won the toss, hosts Ledbury put Eastnor into bat and opener Dave Goodman was first out, edging through to Chris Dandy off the bowling of Duncan Bell for 12.
Andrew Price and James Rose (27) put together a decent partnership for the second wicket but once that was broken, wickets tumbled relatively frequently.
Price provided the resistance and made 71, whilst James Hellyar added some valuable late runs with 25. Josh Evans took 4-31 and Chris Willemstein 3-38 as Eastnor were bowled out for 190.
James Waters (57) set the tone with his half-century, which included eight fours and Chris Dandy added 26 off 36 as Ledbury looked to reach the target.
They were both dismissed but in the end it would be Willemstein (50 not-out) that helped Ledbury over the line in the 34th over to secure their four-wicket win.
As for the 2s, they romped to an eight-wicket win at Feckenham in their Worcestershire County League Division Nine encounter.
The hosts won the toss and chose to bat but Sam Wilcox (3-20) and Simon Ritchie (3-14) did the damage with the ball. Only Jon Dean provided any sort of score for the hosts, who were bowled out for just 112 runs.
Richards Orders (25 not-out) and Simon Ritchie's 32 got Ledbury on their way before Rhys Gunter joined Orders and the pair reached the target in just 17 overs.
