Coming from a tight win against Woolhope CC one-week ago, Ledbury were looking forward to clashing against Wormelow, a team close to them in the table.
Losing the toss, Ledbury were asked to bowl on a hot day and despite the tight bowling of Duncan Bell and Tom Hill, extras allowed the opening partnership of Monty Kennerley (28) and Richards Stafford (11) to build.
With the breakthrough coming via the bowling of Hill, Ledbury introduced Josh Emery and Brandon Caffull into the attack.
Steady runs came from the bats of Archie Langford (33), David Thomas (32), but most notably Edmund Inkin, scoring 66 ably supported by Luke Jones, hitting a quickfire (37 at the end of the innings.
Wickets also came from the bowling of Vicky and Steve Evans, both taking one a piece, with Wormelow’s innings ending on 263-7 from their 45 overs.
Ledbury’s innings started in usual fashion with Emery and Caffull and regular boundaries and extras took the home team to 110-0 just after the first drinks break.
Caffull (41) was the first to be dismissed, against the bowling of King (3-65).
Joined by Josh Evans, who added 18 quick runs to the total before being caught from the first ball of Kennerley’s (2-26) spell.
Regular wickets then fell, leading to 210-5, with 5 overs to go.
Bowring (28) was then dismissed caught and bowled by a very smart catch from Thomas (2-23), leading to Ledbury batting out their overs for 242-8 (45) and drawing the match.
