LEDBURY Cricket Club’s seconds had a nightmare afternoon with the bat as they were skittled for just 37 in a horror show at Canon Frome in Marches League Division Three.
Richard Orders was the only player to reach double figures as Gavin Pugh tore through the visitors’ batting line-up, taking four wickets at the expense of six runs.
Canon Frome seconds bowled their opponents out in the 24th over before taking 72 balls to reach the victory target for the loss of two wickets.
Ledbury’s firsts fared better but were still sent crashing to a five-wicket home defeat to rivals Canon Frome firsts.
Jason Belcher top scored with 29 before a last-wicket stand between Steve Evans (22 not out) and Vicky Evans (11) helped the home side post 124.
Ben Child (4-19) and Andy Lloyd (3-16) did the damage with the ball for Canon Frome.
Rajneesh Bankenahally (34) and Andy Hope (38no) then played a key role in steering the away team to victory in the 31st over.
But Ledbury made them work for it as they took five wickets with Carl Foskett (2-31) and Steve Evans (2-44) both striking twice.
Saturday sees the firsts visit Dales and the seconds host Bartestree and Lugwardine thirds.
