LEDBURY firsts and seconds were frustrated by the rain in their penultimate games of the Marches Cricket League season.
The first XI saw their match with Abergavenny abandoned in the congested battle against the drop in Division One.
But Ledbury picked up eight bonus points to almost guarantee safety with one game left.
Stand-in skipper Luke Ledbury won the toss and asked a weakened visiting side to bat.
Dave Nash claimed two early victims but Phil Bowker (48) helped the visitors to 100-2 off 30 overs. The required acceleration never came with Dave Peacock taking four wickets.
A final-over flourish of 20 runs got Abergavenny to 176-8.
Ledbury reached 18-0 in 5.3 overs before rain curtailed the game.
But, with all their rivals picking up less points, Ledbury hope to be safe ahead of a trip to champions Goodrich tomorrow.
The seconds’ match at Abergavenny in Division Three was also abandoned.
The hosts’ total of 217-4 was built around 126 not out from opener Drew Heffernan.
Jason Belcher claimed two wickets and Darren James also bowled well, while Liam Kendrick took a catch and a wicket.
Ledbury’s reply was on 80-3 with 18 overs left and Rob Yeoman on 27no when play ended.
They need a win at home to Goodrich seconds tomorrow for any chance of avoiding the drop.
