WITH regards to proposed changes to waste collections, before bringing in the new proposals the council needs to save money by doing the following.
Firstly, not issuing kitchen caddies to everyone. They propose to spend £186,276. The caddies are not aesthetically pleasing, and I suspect most householders will buy their own versions to fit with their kitchen.

Letters should not exceed 250 words and local issues take precedence.
Secondly, they need to reveal where the new collection of waste is going to end up. It is pointless when waste is sold to a recycling company which dumps it on a Third World country, which in turn dumps it in the sea (as can happen with plastics).
We need full disclosure of the journey our waste and recycling taken from our homes takes.
After all, the householder is the one who has to spend time to sort the items.
