ON October 13, my husband collapsed unconscious in a restaurant at St Owen’s Cross.
We rang for an ambulance and was told that there were none available for possibly a few hours. It was suggested that I took him to accident and emergency in Hereford.

My husband has had two previous strokes and has a pacemaker due to his atrial fibrillation. We were in A&E from 2.10pm and finally arrived home just before 10.30pm.
Thank goodness he is still alive after having to see a cardiologist privately as we couldn’t get an appointment with the NHS.
This so awful, we dread being ill. A&E was packed with people waiting to be seen, some who could have been seen by a GP rather than A&E.
