Ledbury have continued their promotion drive after keeping their hot streak alive with a fifth victory on the trot.

The first XI have momentum firmly on their side following their win over Bartestree and Lugwardine seconds, which leaves them sitting in the runners-up spot as the second half of the season begins.

Ledbury skipper Josh Evans won the toss on Saturday (July 13), and asked Bartestree to bat first on a fine day for bowling at Orlham Lane.

The visitors were steady to begin, guarding the wicket well despite the best efforts of Tom Hill and Jack Trattell.

Hill kept the run rate down, with his seven overs yielding just 27 runs for Bartestree.

Vicky Evans, who has been red hot in recent weeks, once again got Ledbury on the front foot with two dismissals from her seven overs.

Jack Cambridge also continued to impress with his leg spin, while the return of Duncan Bell to the field was also a major boost.

Chris Willemstein injected some pace into the contest, taking two wickets.

Nevertheless, Trattell emerged as the pick of the bowlers, securing a wonderful four wickets in his nine overs.

Despite some stellar bowling, Bartestree remained steadfast at the crease, posting a challenging score of 198/8.

Ledbury got off to a shaky start with the bat in hand, with Willemstein hitting the very first ball straight to the square leg fielder.

However, Tom Bowring and captain Evans managed to steady the ship with an excellent 72-run partnership.

The latter scored 35 runs before being stumped.

Nick Gibbons was next at the crease, and with Bowring, contributed a combined 80 runs to the tally.

Gibbons scored 43 runs before being caught on the long on boundary.

However Bowring took the headlines, with his 80 runs seeing Ledbury to victory, and earning him the Man of the Match award.

Ledbury will hope to keep their hot streak alive when they travel to take on Worcester thirds.

The stakes are also high for Ledbury second XI, who are currently in the top spot of their league.

They're gearing up to host Stone firsts in a top-of-the-table clash at Orlham Lane, with a victory here solidifying their dominant position at the top of division nine.
