THE THOUGHT of buying your own pub in a quiet village has popped into the mind of everyone at some point.

The Crown Inn, a 19th century former pub in Walwyn Road, Colwall, near Malvern, is up for auction in December.

The pub's roots can be traced back as far as the 1870s, but was last open back in 2019.

Ian Tudor, commercial director at Bond Wolfe, said: "This is an attractive and spacious freehold former public house standing on a generous plot in a sought-after village location.

"While it could continue in use as a pub, the property is considered suitable for a variety of alternative uses, including residential, subject to planning permission."

The Crown Inn around the corner from Colwall's railway station, with both Malvern and Ledbury within a 15 minute drive.

Further afield, Gloucester, Hereford and Worcester are all within one hour's drive from the pub.

Mr Tudor added: "The property comprises an attractive detached two storey building with a large single storey extension and former beer garden and a car park to the rear.

"On the ground floor the accommodation currently provides a large bar or lounge, a former restaurant area with additional bar servery, a former commercial kitchen, male and female WCs and ancillary stores.

“On the first floor there has been some refurbishment work including rewiring, new plumbing, replastering, new bathroom fittings and part new flooring and decoration.

“There are two bedrooms with ensuite shower room and WC.

"An additional area could provide a private flat with a kitchen and open plan living area, shower room and WC and bedroom.”

The pub will be one of the 183 properties up for auction by Bond Wolfe at 8.30am on Wednesday, December 11.
