LEDBURY will be transformed into a winter wonderland this weekend as the town's annual Christmas lights switch-on will take place.

The festive fun will take place between midday and 6pm on Sunday, November 24 on Ledbury High Street.

This year's festive celebration will feature over 40 local traders, food stalls, family-friendly workshops, and live entertainment.

The streets will come alive with local artisans and vendors offering various gifts and handcrafted items for people to get their early Christmas presents.

The Beefy Boys, which recently came fourth in the burger category at the World Food Championships, will be at the lights switch-on.

Other popular vendors at the event include Boozy Brownies.

Families can get into the holiday spirit at St. Katherine's Hall, where Red Earth Arts will be hosting a special Polar Express-themed arts workshop from 2:30pm onwards.

At the workshop, youngsters and parents will be able to make their own
Christmas masks and enjoy festive face painting.

The Ledbury Poetry House will also be opening its doors with free, interactive workshops.

Youngsters will be able to find out if they are naughty or nice and maybe even get an early present when Father Christmas brings Santa's Grotto into the town's community hub from 3pm.

On the live entertainment front, highlights include the internationally acclaimed Mr. Wilson’s Second Liners, a six-piece New Orleans-inspired brass band famous for their 90s club classics.

The group will be performing three times outside the market house throughout the day, at 2pm, 3pm and 5pm.

Other performances to look forward to include traditional Morris dancers and the talented Ledbury’s Got Talent winner, Angelina X.

At midday, renowned Ukrainian composer Alla Myhay will perform Christmas songs from her own country to the high Street with the help of the Ukrainian Community of Ledbury.

The build-up to the big switch-on will see the Ledbury Community Brass Band and Choir singing classic Christmas Carols at the Market House.

And at 5pm the lights will officially be switched on while at the same time, a snow machine will make it a white Christmas at the Market House.
