THE end is finally in sight in the long-running saga of a Herefordshire town's closed public loos.
The only remaining public toilets in Bromyard have been closed since 2023.
At the time, it was reported that the closure was due to various issues, including a blockage that later turned out to be a roof tile wedged in a drainage pipe.

Since then, the council has been forking out each month to hire Portaloos to replace the closed toilets.
But, after it was revealed that a contractor had been chosen to carry out the required refurbishment works last month, a newly published report to the town council's properties committee in November has hinted at the end of the saga drawing near.
The report, submitted by properties officer D Berry, said that, following the appointment of a contractor, work has now started and is progressing "smoothly".

"We aim to reopen the toilets early in the new year," the report said.
The entire project has cost thousands of pounds in addition to the Portaloo rental.
October's minutes revealed that the £66,767 construction contract had been awarded to GI Sykes, with the addition of a possible £3,750 if rendering is required to the exterior, while previous minutes revealed that councillors had accepted a quote for architectural services from IJW Design and Consulting at a cost of £1,150.
