A city centre shopping centre has welcomed a new store into one of its units, and it's a first for Hereford.

The Enchanted Bobbin in Maylord Orchards opened opened on Thursday, (October 10), welcoming customers from far and wide into the bespoke children's clothing store.

The unit was officially opened on October 13, with the Mayor of Hereford, Kevin Tillett, cutting the ribbon and proclaiming the hand-made clothes store as officially open for business.

The shop offers bespoke children’s outfits, ranging from newborns to teenagers if requested, with an aim to be individual and personal, by making everything as affordable as possible, and understanding that children "are all very much different sizes".

Not only will the shop cater for children's clothing needs, but it will also be selling  handmade memory bears, blankets, bibs and many other accessories for customer's to chose from.

Owner of the store, Tracey Roberts, was first introduced to retail in the city centre space when she began attending its monthly markets as a trader. Soon after, she was offered a unit, and snapped up the chance to run her own store in the city centre.

Speaking of her first week in the business, Ms Roberts said it had been lovely to meet so many new customers and to talk about the business. She added that she had been lucky to have lots of interest and "promising sales", with customers regularly commenting that Hereford needed a shop like this.

"Many were impressed not only by my standard of work but loved my ethos of “bespoke but affordable”.

Ms Roberts added that the shop's play and feeding areas had gone down a storm with customers and that all in all, the past few weeks had been a "lovely start" to her new venture.

The new store is situated opposite Hereford's former Wilko, which shut its doors in September last year.

The Enchanted Bobbin will also join a small collection of stores in the city centre building, including ACE K9 Doggy Deli, which opened earlier this year, serving raw dog treats and other canine novelties.
