BBC One's Escape to the Country features Herefordshire pub

A new episode of Escape to the Country saw a pair of house hunters looking to buy in Herefordshire, with presenter Nikki Chapman taking them for a pitstop at a village pub during filming.

Before looking at the mystery property in the village of Almeley, Chapman took David and Jane to the Bells Inn.

The couple also viewed homes in Lyonshall, Wormsley as well as crossing the Welsh border to look at a property in Powys.

They ultimately chose to go for the mystery house, a former station house in Almeley with a subterranean kitchen/diner, two underground bedrooms, a living room with a mezzanine and half an acre of land.

Their plan is to put a railway carriage on the station platform to use as holiday accommodation if they can get planning permission.

While checking out the deli and shop at the nearby Bells Inn, Chapman said: "The dining room has been transformed into the local little deli/supermarket. This is the heart of the village and the community comes together and supports the shop and pub."

The house hunters also got to meet fellow Escape to the Country host Jude Hudson at the Harp pub in Old Radnor, Wales.

Hudson lives in Herefordshire himself and had a lot to say about his love of the county. He said: "I've been here since 2012 but I lived in Wales for over 20 years in the Cambrian mountains. This region is dear to me. Wherever you go here, whichever corner you turn around, there is another eye-watering view to enjoy."
