Ledbury Primary School welcomed new starters with special 'preparation for school' packs

As part of their warm welcome to the newest members of the Ledbury Primary School community, we are delighted to announce the introduction of special 'Preparation for School' starter packs. These thoughtfully curated packs were presented to all new Reception children during their taster day at the end of the summer term, a wonderful initiative generously funded by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).

The aim of these packs is to help our youngest pupils and their families feel ready and excited for the start of their school journey.

Each pack contains a range of items designed to support the children’s readiness for learning, as well as an information booklet for parents, filled with tips and advice on how to best prepare their child for school.

The booklet also includes a guide on how to use the contents of the pack, alongside ideas for development at home.

Inside each pack, families found:

A children's book to encourage an early love for reading and storytelling.

A family game to promote quality time together while reinforcing essential skills.

A set of colours, chalks, and giant tweezers to help children build fine motor skills, which are crucial for writing.

Bubbles to support mouth movement and speech development

In addition to these educational tools, each child received a personal, handwritten note from our Head Teacher, Mrs. Rachel Ussher, offering a warm and heartfelt welcome to Ledbury Primary School.

She said: "The reception from both parents and children has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how these packs provided a meaningful and supportive introduction to school life. Parents commented on the care and thoughtfulness behind this gesture, with one parent saying, “This is a fantastic way to ease the transition into school for both parents and children.”
