HALLOWEEN lovers will be able to get their hands on some weird and wonderful pumpkins as a traditional Ledbury picking patch re-opens this weekend.

The Farm Patch on Gilbert's Farm will be swinging open its gates at 11am on Saturday, October 5.

People will be able to get their hands on pumpkins of all shapes and sizes on the patch.

There will be also plenty of spooky pumpkins for people to grab just in time for Halloween or to eat.

Bruce Gilbert, who runs the farm, said: "We are really excited to be back for another year.

"It is nice to have people returning each year to pick their pumpkins and have a good time.

"We have been working hard to develop things this year and we are confident people will enjoy the patch and pumpkin picking as much as ever.

"Well-behaved dogs on leads are also most welcome to enjoy the great outdoors.

"The mild conditions and successful sowings of sunflowers mean there are still flowers to be picked if wished or just enjoyed as a colourful backdrop to a countryside stroll around the patch.

"People come from far and wide to this, it really is a great time and we can't wait for it to start."

The pumpkin patch on Lilly Hall Lane, less than a mile from Ledbury town centre, is now in its fifth season.

The team has been working to develop the patch this year, with the new Bull Pen being developed to offer a covered café area where pickers can relax with hot and cold food as well as other refreshments.

Food on offer at the café includes cakes and pizza, while all the pumpkins on the patch are also edible.

Following the official opening, The Farm Patch will be open between 11am and 4pm every Saturday and Sunday throughout October.

Families will also be able to pick their pumpkins throughout the October half-term.

And there will be a chance to take part in pumpkin picking in the dark, which will take place between 11am and 7.30pm on October 26 and 29.
