Cider drinkers in the county are in for a treat, as a famous Herefordshire cider maker is expanding, opening a brand new “tasting room”.

Westons Cider, which is the UK’s leading authentic cider maker, has announced that it will be relocating its shop, and in the process bringing a brand-new “tasting room” to its historic mill in the Herefordshire village of Much Marcle.

The new venue officially opened its doors on September 3 and will give cider lovers locally and beyond the chance to enjoy cider tastings as part of their visitor experience.

Westons has said that the expansion will allow more cider fanatics than ever to visit the site, with expert tastings, and ‘Guess the Cider’ activities available. The new additions don’t stop there, with guests now able to book a Saturday night tour, and privately hire the venue.

The firm has said that the new visitor centre is designed to be “enjoyed by cider fans in the county, as well as enhancing tourism in the region” and that the opening of the new venue coincides with the Autumn harvest, which they say is the perfect time to visit the local mill and see how the popular cider is created.

Weston’s has been through five generations of the same family, being founded 144 years ago in Much Marcle, and is now known globally for its incredible produce.

The company, which sells more than one bottle every second, uses over 35,000 tonnes of fruit each Autumn, which is all sourced within a 50 mile radius of the mill.

Former Gloucester Rugby champion, Mark Atkinson, joined an opening event for all Westons staff earlier in the month to celebrate the occasion and Westons’ long-term partnership with the club.
