WHEN James Lewis and Matt Rowlands decide to shear sheep they go all the way.
James, 37 from Newent and Matt, 27 from Holme Lacey are both experienced sheep shearers and have both completed “tours of duty” shearing sheep in New Zealand but they came together to shear 3, 112 Romney sheep at Hall End Farm in Much Marcle over the Bank Holiday weekend in just 24 hours.
The shearing event took place at Hall End Farm on Saturday August 24 - Sunday August 25.
It wasn't lodged with the Guinness World Records but it was a herculean effort by the two men.
James said: "It was hard on the body and the mind going all through the night but it was brilliant."
"We didn't stop at all."
Dozens of supporters and well wishers descended on the farm to help cheer the pair on.
Entertainment was laid on creating a real party atmosphere.
James said: "There was a lot of people who all had a cracking time.
"The sheep were pretty good to be fair and the farmer who lent us the sheep said we did a really tidy job to be fair.
"I'm pretty pleased with myself."
Matt managed to shear 1, 521 and James sheared 1, 591 sheep during the shearing event.
THe pair are not retiring and expect to see them in forthcoming countryside shows in Herefordshire in the coming months.
