Ledbury Strömstad Twinning Association is hosting a Smörgåsbord evening at the Talbot Hotel on Saturday September 14at 7.30 pm.

It is a great opportunity to dive into Swedish culture and learn more about Ledbury’s twin town Strömstad.

Strömstad is Sweden’s westernmost city, is located on Skagerack with the national border with Norway 20 kilometers to the north and east.

During the 20th century, trade and certain services became increasingly important, as did, among other things, the fishing industry such as the canning industry and mechanical workshops . The tourist and service industries, along with the extensive cross-border trade, have remained the most important industries in the municipality.

Around the turn of the century in 1900, the stone industry got a big boost, which lasted until the 1930s. Krokstrand’s community was at this time larger than Strömstad. Bohuslän’s oldest People’s House is still preserved in the middle of the old stonecutter community and is used for gatherings and various cultural events.
