LEAF (Locally Encouraging All to Flourish – a charity founded by the Ledbury Churches) arranged another family fun event which took place at St Michael and All Angels Parish Church on Saturday August 17.

The theme of the afternoon was ‘Kindness and Caring’.   Approximately, 60 children, plus parents and carers, attended.   The ‘SoXsighted Morris dancers’ entertained families with a colourful display at the start of the afternoon.

There were lots of outdoor games to enjoy, including cascades with water play,  parachute, axe throwing, Bamball, Bounceback, Pitch and Toss etc.

The games were loaned by Ledbury Town Council, Eastnor school and Friends of Ledbury Children’s Centre. Others were funded by Tesco Stronger Starts.

There was Nature Craft under the trees, painting using berry juice, mud etc, together with a fun hammock, run by Becky Davis,  Forest School Lead.

The Fetch Theatre attended and made puppets and other beautiful decorations with Ukrainian Families, for their Float for Ledbury Carnival, which takes place on August Bank Holiday Monday.

Many other families joined in and helped to make decorations.

Children queued to have glitter tattoos with Caroline and loved displaying them afterwards.

Inside the Church there were crafts including ‘Kindness Rocks’ painting, ‘Bee Happy Cards and Jars’ to decorate, ‘Friendship Bracelets and Key Rings’, banner printing and a children’s play corner.

Families enjoyed a BBQ, cooked on the new equipment funded by Tesco Stronger Starts; winning the ‘Blue Token Vote’ demonstrated how much LEAF is valued locally.

Further treats included copious amounts of pop-corn, delicious home-made cakes, accompanied by hot and cold drinks, which as always proved very popular.

The event was supported by over 30 volunteers from around the churches in Ledbury and there was a lovely, happy, community atmosphere.
