LEDBURY’s twinning association has been busy preparing a number of events and socials to further strengthen the town’s bond with its twin in Sweden - Strömstad.
A Smorgasbord Evening will take place on Saturday, September 14, at 7.30 pm at the Talbot Hotel Ledbury.
The event will include a delicious, traditional Swedish Smorgasbord menu, hot and cold dishes, accompanied by Swedish style entertainment, information and artefacts from our Twin Town. Tickets are limited.
Ska Vi Ha Fika (Shall we have coffee?) Coffee Morning will take place on Saturday, October 26, at 10.30am – 12noon at the Talbot Hotel. The Swedish themed Coffee Morning has been jointly organised by Ledbury Town Council and Ledbury Strömstad Twinning Association.
Pop along to enjoy Swedish treats, sweet and savoury, meet other members and take a break.
Fika is a social institution in Sweden.
It means taking a break from work or other activities, for coffee, cinnamon roll or biscuits, sandwich etc. with colleagues, friends or family.
There will be a raffle in support of the Mayor’s Charity and the Twinning Association, with the chance to win a Swedish style hamper.
Quiz fans can test their knowledge early next year at the Town Quiz on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 7.30pm in Ledbury Community Hall: being organised by Ledbury Strömstad Twinning Association and Ledbury Community Choir. Teams of four. Quiz for Town organisations and individuals.
As well as these events, The Twinning Association will be taking part in Ledbury Carnival on August Bank Holiday Monday, August, 26, taking part in the procession and having a stand.
The Association will also be taking part in the Christmas Lights Switch On, Sunday November 24.
Strömstad is a locality and the seat of Strömstad Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden.
Strömstad claims to have more summer sunshine days than any other town north of the Alps.
Strömstad has numerous daily ferries departing and arriving from Sandefjord, Norway
It is also home to a domestic ferry connection to the Koster Islands, a nature preserve which is Sweden’s westernmost populated islands.
