PREPARATIONS for Ledbury's Golden Carnival are taking shape.

This year will be the 50th year the event has taken place and organisers say it is going to be the best yet with all the familiar attractions people have come to expect from Ledbury Carnival.

Organisers are still looking for stewards to help out on the day.

The shop window competition is up and running with Ledbury traders throwing themselves into the competition.

The carnival procession promises to be a spectacular affair with community organisations all taking part.

Janet Meredith, one of the carnival organisers said: "Carnival committee members are busy, busy. busy this week distributing posters, programmes and flyers.

"Freshly off the press, you will find details of entertainment, timings of the parade and road closures and photos of earlier Carnivals alongside an entry form for the parade.

"Please get in touch (contact-us@ledbury-carnival.co.uk) if you need any of these and we will drop some round to you.

"The decorated Shop Window competition has been launched. Please let us know if you wish to take part.

"Anyone with trophies from 2023 or previous years should take them into Gaynan's where the lovely Karen will be busy cleaning them.

"Independent Judges have been confirmed for all competitions and are looking forward to taking part with this important role.

"Raffle prizes would be most welcome to add to our top prizes of a Nintendo Switch (donated by One Stop Stores) and Family tickets to Cotswold Wildlife Park (donated by Carnival Association)..

"Stewards are still needed so if you can offer just an hour of your time, you would be welcomed with open arms.

"All in all, plans are coming along nicely and we look forward to a wonderful day."

The Golden Carnival takes place on August 26 and promises to be a day to remember.
