Plans for Ledbury’s Carnival goes Gold carnival are continuing and things are beginning to come together well for the event on August 26.

Ledbury Carnival has received a £7500 Grant from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund which has put the carnival in a much better financial position.

With other donations received from Platform Housing, Amcor and Connexus Housing organisers say they are now in a more stable condition financially than they were last year.

Organisers have launched a new website - ledbury-carnival.co.uk - and will give all the latest information you may need.

The website gives details on how to apply for a free stall at the carnival. This is for charities and not for profit organisations.

It says the carnival on August 26 will be brilliant.

The website says: “Ledbury Carnival is a wonderful day for all the family. Fairground rides, bands, stalls, dance displays, children’s entertainment and, of course, our Carnival Procession.

“Everyone is welcome.”

They are now looking to recruit new members for their committee including a chairman and treasurer.

It is a wonderful way to put back into the community of Ledbury and to help create a golden 50th carnival this year as well as to plan for another one next year.

A ‘50 years of Carnival’ display has proved popular and has just held a successful and enjoyable week at the Co-op in town, and could be seen again on Sunday July 7 at the Ledbury Celebration.

Organisers now say their overriding concern is to attract extra volunteers to act as Stewards at this year’s Carnival, and to find new Committee members for 2025.

Stewards are needed for helping on the day of the carnival.

With several committee members, including the Chairman and Treasurer, stepping down after the AGM in November the hunt is on to find a new Treasurer, Fundraiser, Secretary and general support members.
