Ledbury Primary School Little Wrens Nursery Children were out and about in the community last Thursday, planting the containers at St Michael and All Angels Parish Church. They had been learning about plants and how they grow and were able to put their new skills into practice. The children enjoyed digging and then planting in lots of colourful Bizzy Lizzies and Begonias and having explained what they needed to grow big and strong, went off to fill the watering cans to provide the plants with a much-needed drink.
Having done this the children and staff sat down to enjoy drinks and biscuits supplier by members of LEAF (Locally Encouraging All to Flourish). A LEAF Representative said that the children were an absolute delight to have at St Michaels and really demonstrated the Ledbury Primary School values. (The children also had fun in the Children’s Play Area in the Church).
Ledbury Community Hub and Friends of Ledbury Children’s Centre Children were also out and about taking part in Community Day last Saturday.
They too demonstrated their gardening skills and that although their ages only ranged between 3 – 5 years they could still take part in Community Day and do ‘their bit for Ledbury’.
They had fun digging and planting out the containers at the top of St Katherine’s Almshouses steps, with brightly coloured flowers, to the delight of passing residents and really demonstrated the values of caring and sharing.
A spokesperson for the Friends said that the children were a pleasure to be with and a great advert for Ledbury Community Hub and the Friends of Ledbury Children’s Centre.
They also loved their drinks and biscuits.
