LEDBURY fire station is looking for on-call firefighters - if you live or work within five minutes of the station, you could be one.
A spokesman said: “On-call firefighters play a vital role in Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service’s varied work across the two counties.
“The Service is now seeking enthusiastic applicants from all walks of life to join the dedicated band who serve their community in Ledbury, alongside their regular day jobs.
“Any potential on-call recruits must be aged over 18 and work or live within five minutes of the fire station.
“You could gain the job satisfaction of making a difference to your local community, learn new skills, develop your confidence and top up your annual income with earnings of £4,000-£8,000 per year.
“The most important qualifications are common sense, compassion, commitment, discretion and teamwork.”
The Fire Service offers a range of contracts where the hours and times to be available can vary to suit personal and professional circumstances.
Full training, uniform and personal development are provided with many opportunities to gain additional skills and qualifications that will be of use outside of the Service.
The Service only asks for an average level of fitness and strength and will provide full support in helping anyone to understand and achieve this.
Firefighting isn’t just about fighting fires. As well as varied incidents such as road traffic collisions and floods, recruits could carry out a home safety visit, talk to the community about fire safety or work with Service partners to support a campaign.
