A SET of images iconic to Ledbury in this week's nostalgia section.
All of these images are taken with permission from the Paul Carter collection on the Facebook group Old Ledbury.
There is a lovely hand tinted photo of Tilleys advertising boarding at Station Approach 1910 with a collection of transport available to distribute newspapers and flyers etc.
A picture of Ledbury’s ‘Picture Palace’ taken in 1915 next to Smith Bros photography shop.
Silent movies came to Ledbury in 1912 and were first shown in the Royal Hall, Southend before moving to a renovated old convent known as Bank House in the Homend in 1914 (now Ledbury Hardware and a dress shop with little change to the façade). Original wooden benches accommodated 400 cinema goers and children could get in for 2d. Smith photographers traded for approx. 100yrs before closing in 2005.
