Ledbury Model Car Club gathered for the final round of their winter series last Sunday, with the drivers list looking stacked and the weather reports in our favor we were a go.
There was a slight change for the final round in the form of a 10th heat.
I had put in a couple of cut-throughs for the tenth buggies as I wasn’t sure about battery run time, but after practice, the guys decided to run the full track.
Qualifying went faultlessly with some of our first-time racers quickly finding their mojo along with the usual battle among the top drivers for the all-important TQ points.
The finals would start with the first leg of the 10th class. After 5 minutes the win would be taken by Tommy Hall laying down some amazing lap times.
Next up was the 8th class D final. This race would see a few first-time racers lining up for their first-ever final. The start was a little chaotic but we would see first-timer Ferdy Imm cut through the traffic and take the lead, which he held onto right till the buzzer.
So, it was 1st Ferdy Imm 2nd Thomas Day, and 3rd Matt Lowthian.
The 8th class C final would start similarly but this time another one of our rising stars by the name of Jack Boulton took an early lead and held on to it to the finish.
C final results, 1st Jack Boulton, 2nd Dan Troughton and 3rd Rhys Brown.
The 8th Class B final was up next and was going to be a battle for those all-important bump-up spots into the A final.
From the off Arron Knight would take the lead and hold on to it for all but 2 laps. But as the flag went down, he would take the win and one of the 3 all-important bump-up positions into the A final.
B final results would be 1st Arron Knight, 2nd Russel Lee, and 3rd Dan Mustoe.
So the 8th Class A final was upon us with Ben Billing in pole position. Ben had been ballistic all day so it was no surprise that from the off he would maintain the lead right through till the end. Young Olly Frost, who was also on fire put up a worthwhile challenge for the lead but couldn’t quite catch Ben.
This would see the Final result being 1st Ben Billing, 2nd Olly Frost, and 3rd Darren Wilby.
Our last final of the day would be the second leg of the 10th Class A final, wow these guys are fast.
This time the win would be taken by Jamie Hall.
The results would be 1st Tommy Hall, 2ndJamie Hall, and 3rd Chris Boden.
Wow, we did it we had a whole day racing and it didn’t rain.
I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for coming and helping to make it such a great day.
