ARTISTS from near Ledbury are amongst those taking part in Worcestershire Open Studios - the county’s largest free annual art event - running August 19-28 2023.

Artists and makers will be welcoming the public into their studios, giving behind-the-scenes access into how they create their art.

There is a diverse range of artwork on show including painting, sculpture, printmaking, jewellery, ceramics, photography, textiles and woodworking.

This year the event has more studios than ever to visit - 97 venues will showcase 128 artists, including ten artists in the Ledbury area.

Charlotte Carver mixed media artist, painters Jen Janes, Louise Pilditch and Debbie Macklin are in Welland.

In Colwall you can visit painters Gilly Hancock, Laura Nicholson and Anna Cumming, Jan Evans, painter and printmaker Tia Lambert and artist Eugene Conway.

All of the artists are excited to open their doors, to meet and chat with visitors about their art and how it’s made. All studios are free to

visit.

Richard Nicholls of Worcestershire Open Studios said that the event would give the public an excellent opportunity to see the talent on their doorstep, to meet the artists and find out more about their art.

“Artists will show how they work, the tools and materials they use and answer any questions,” Richard said.

“The artists’ work will be on display with the chance to buy original art, many will have cards, prints, and gifts for sale too.”

Anna Cumming is an oil painter from Upper Colwall. “I’m looking forward to Worcestershire Open Studios and welcoming visitors to my home to see my work.

It’s great to meet new people and familiar faces too, to chat about all things art, share my enthusiasm and the processes I use in my art,” Anna said.

“I paint vibrant and expressive oil paintings, using palette knives; I strive to capture movement, energy and the mood of a place.

I’ll be showing new paintings featuring the Malvern Hills, inspired by my daily dog walks. I’ll also be showing my seascapes with my trademark big skies.”

Worcestershire Open Studios is also a great opportunity to explore our beautiful county and enjoy an inspirational day out.

“Following the success of last year’s longer event, this year’s will again be open over 10 days,” said Richard Nicholls from Worcestershire

Open Studios. “This gives everyone more opportunity to see the artists taking part.”
