AN AMERICAN fighter plane has been spotted roaring over Herefordshire.
The North American Aviation P-51 Mustang was seen over Credenhill by Hereford Times Camera Club member Rachael Louise.
The planes, which were designed in 1940 as long-range single-seater fighters, saw service in conflicts including World War II and the Korean War.
They were used in roles including to escort bombers in raids over Germany during WW2, becoming the United States' main fighter plane before being overtaken by jet fighters.

Despite this, they remained in service with some air forces until the 1980s.
Decked out in a checked colour scheme, a nod to the 78th Fighter Group, a United States Air Force unit assigned to RAF Duxford during WW2, Contrary Mary was built in 1944 and saw service in the Korean War.
It is understood that she has since been converted to seat two people.
"What a sight," said Rachael Louise, who captured a picture of the plane over the county.
