Children at Ledbury Primary School have been presented with commemorative coronation mugs by the mayor.
But town councillors have yet to decide whether a similar gesture will be made for Ledbury’s secondary school pupils.
The mugs were bought by Ledbury Town Council, which wanted school children to have something to remember the coronation by.
Town mayor Phillip Howells and consort Hilary Jones visited the school last week to present the souvenirs and pupils were said to be “delighted”.
Councillor Tony Bradford said pupils at John Masefield High School shouldn’t be forgotten about in Ledbury’s coronation celebrations.

“I didn’t agree with buying the mugs in the first place, I think there are better things to be spending our money on,” he said.
“But if you’re going to do it, you’ve got to be inclusive. We have two schools in the town.”
The decision to buy the mugs was made in 2022 following a meeting of the town council’s events working party and then full council.
Clerk Angie Price said the working group had considered whether to also buy mugs for pupils at John Masfield High School and primary schools outside of the town, such as Eastnor.
“But it was recommended that mugs be bought for all children attending Ledbury Primary School only,” she said.
“This recommendation was agreed by council and mugs were purchased.
“However, at the meeting of council in March, Cllr Bradford raised concerns that the mugs were only be purchased for Ledbury Primary Schoool, and it was agreed that this could revisited at the next meeting of the events working party.”
A recommendation was made that instead of buying mugs, the council would make a £1,000 contribution to the school to celebrate the coronation.
But this recommendation needs to be voted on by either full council or a standing committe - and because of the local elections there are no meetings until after the coronation weekend.
