THE Black and White House Museum in the heart of Hereford city centre is set to be closed for several days because of flooding.
Posting on its Facebook page, Herefordshire Council said: "Unfortunately, the Black & White House Museum in Hereford will be closed over the bank holiday weekend and likely into next week due to flooding in the cellar."
Built in 1621 as a showpiece residence and shop embedded in the city centre's Butchers Row, the museum – also known as 'the Old House' – is a popular tourist attraction and is visited by many people.

The house probably witnessed street fighting during the English Civil War. After very narrowly escaping the destruction that overtook its neighbours in the early 1800s, it was left standing alone.
Then, as successively a saddlers, fish and hardware shop, it served Hereford's busy Victorian market, before being radically altered to house a bank.
The house was donated to the city in 1927 and careflly restored and furnished as a museum. It has been updated to give modern visitors a taste of what life was like in 17th-century Hereford.
