After 17 years of leadership, Julie Rees is stepping down as Head teacher of Ledbury Primary School.
During this time Julie has embedded Values-based Education, making Ledbury Primary School one of the leading schools in this area.
She is now embarking on a second career as a certified professional co-active coach, working with people from a variety of backgrounds across the world.
Rachel Ussher has been working alongside Julie for the last year as Co-Head teacher, and Governors have now appointed her as full-time Head teacher from September.
“I started working at Ledbury Primary School in 1999, and subsequently have also made Ledbury my home.
"I am passionate about this school and its community, and will strive to ensure all children have the best start they can, offering a school filled with joy, rich experiences and high aspirations.
"Our commitment to Values-based Education remains, as we know these are the tools that help children to navigate the world as they grow. The staff at LPS provide not only high-quality teaching and learning, but also an individualised approach that nurtures and supports children’s well-being.
"We have a curriculum based on Belonging, Being and Becoming so that children connect and understand their place in the world.
"My vision for the future of Ledbury Primary School is for seamless continuity, whilst growing and developing other areas of the school.
"I would like to add to our Forest School and Early Years outdoor classroom by enhancing other outdoor learning spaces. We look to grow our Nursery provision, including Early Year wrap around care. We will continue to embrace and explore technological opportunities, looking for ways to add to classroom learning. Ledbury Primary will continue to put itself at the heart of the community, building on links with JMHS and groups such as Sustainable Ledbury and LEAF.
"It has been a privilege to be a part of this school for so long and I am proud to become its new Head teacher.”
