LEDBURY Carnival organisers met on Wednesday evening (11th Jan) to begin planning largest Community Event in the Ledbury's calendar. Carnival 2023 will be held on August 28, Bank Holiday Monday.
A theme has now been chosen with 'Ledbury Carnival - Countryside fun' being considered as it offers a broad spectrum of local life. It is hoped this will attract a wide variety of colourful Floats, Stalls and Competition entries.
Last years event, 'Ledbury Blooms', was thoroughly enjoyed by approximately 4000, who were able to listen to live music by local groups, Carol Lee Sampson & Don MacCleod, Band for Life, and the ever popular Frontrunner. A variety of free entertainment for our younger visitors proved very popular.
Plans for entertainment have been put in motion with Ledburys favourite group, Frontrunner agreeing to perform again this year.
The small committee would welcome new members to either fill specific roles or to offer support and ideas.
One specific role remains to be filled, that of Secretary, following the retirement of Jill Jupp after many years of support and dedication to the Organisation.
Volunteers, willing to help on Carnival Day would be appreciated as even an hour will make such a difference to the safety and enjoyment of visitors. If you are interested please contact Janet at jsykes1936@live.co.uk or phone 07858 599037 for a chat or further information.
It is hoped this years Carnival will be the best ever and whilst we say this every year, it all depends on community support to enable things to run smoothly.
