There is very much a sense of stability at Ledbury RFC in a year where there has been anything but throughout rugby on these shores.

At a time where two professional rugby clubs are desperately trying to revive themselves - Wasps and Worcester Warriors - one would assume that lower down the levels, there would be equal problems.

But for Ledbury, they are a club who has survived a lockdown and Covid restrictions left right and centre, to now thriving on all fronts.

"Twelve months ago, we were just starting to get back into the swing of things, with all levels of rugby restored and social activity starting up again," said John Wilesmith (Chairman) and Roger Bateson (President) in a joint letter do members of the club.

"This season has seen the demise of two great clubs, Worcester Warriors and Wasps, and several others struggling. National coaches are moving around football-style and it’s a relief that at Ledbury RFC there is some semblance of stability.

"Our Senior teams are settling well into their new higher leagues and our Colts continue to prosper. The Ladies section rounded off another triumphant season in their league once more and the Minis and Juniors continue to flourish."

But on the business front, the club are also maximising their facilities. Every weekend has seen the Pavilion Rooms hosting local businesses and private Christmas parties.

With the recent installation of a high tech audio/visual system, there has been a significant increase in business meetings and presentations as the club looks to establish itself as the go to destination for drawing in such events.

Plenty is planned going forward, firstly, the inaugural Cotton Cup friendly match between Ledbury and Bromyard on Wednesday December 28.
