LEDBURY Amateur Dramatic Society (LADS) has been producing full scale pantomimes and seasonal shows for over 30 years.
This year, after a break for covid, LADS are back with a brand new production of Snow White to be performed at The Market Theatre in January with a script that has been written especially for LADS by Richard McIlwaine.
Richard, who is an old friend of the theatre’s artistic director Paul Graham, grew up in Portsmouth and started his working life as a professional cricketer on £10 per week; but, he says, not wanting the money to go to his head, he went into teaching where he taught English and coached all manner of sports.
In his spare time though he wrote plays and pantos which he says have given him a huge amount of enjoyment.
Snow White is his sixth major panto and he believes it to be his best.
The show, which has a cast of over forty, has some brilliant choreography, outrageous costumes, awful jokes, and a live band. Plus there are a few surprises in store too. Oh yes there are! The panto will run for 10 shows starting on 19 January and include four matinees.
As always with LADS’ pantos, tickets (which this year include a family ticket) are going fast and can be bought via the website TheMarketTheatre.com or by phoning 07967 517 125.
