A Bromyard-based singer says it will be a real honour to perform at Ledbury’s Christmas lights switch-on.
Amanda Hopewell, who is getting international recognition for her music, is among the live acts performing in the build-up to the big switch-on outside the Market House this afternoon (Sunday, November 27).
She’ll be on stage for an hour from 12.30pm.
“I've recently released a Christmas song You Are My Angel, which I will be performing on Sunday, along with other Christmas songs and original songs that I've penned myself,” said Amanda.

“It’s a real honour to be performing locally at the Ledbury Town Light Switch-On and I'm very excited to be performing to a local audience.
“I have sung at some major international events but there is always something very special about singing to an audience in my hometown.
“Music is my passion and I wish to continue sharing it.”
Amanda has performed at the British Embassy in Berlin and has seen her songs featured in the top 10 of the UK dance charts.
Bromyard singer to release new album
On December 15, she’ll be releasing her new album, featuring songs written with Canadian co-writer Julian Marsh. These include her Christmas single You Are My Angel, which she is performing live for the first time in Ledbury.
When it comes to her musical influences, Amanda says her tastes are eclectic.
“Over the years I have been inspired by many artists including Kylie Minogue, Annie Lennox, Streisand, Rick Astley, Dua Lipa, Texas, Madonna, Kate Bush, Sia, Shakira and the Carpenters to name a few,” she said.
And she has a gift for anyone inspired to give her a follow on social media this weekend.
“As it is Christmas, the time for giving, I will be sending a free copy of my latest Christmas track to anyone that follows me on social media, references Ledbury and provides their email address.”
Following Amanda on to the Christmas stage in Ledbury are the Snow Queen, Elf Mayhem, Ledbury Brass Band and Community Choir, Ledbury Morris and Ledbury Dance Co.
The lights will be switched on at 5pm by mayor Phillip Howells and Ledbury’s carnival princesses.
