Ledbury and Bromyard firefighters have attended a large field fire that destroyed a combine harvester.

Crews from Leominster, Bromsgrove and Kingsland also attended the fire at Kyrewood, Tenbury Wells at 3.15pm yesterday (Wednesday, August 10).

“Crews did a fantastic job to prevent the fire spreading,” said a spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

“A huge well done to the farmer for putting a fire break in place to assist us using his equipment.

“Ledbury utilised the thermal imaging capabilities of the drone to help find hot spots and prevent reignition.”

The Ledbury crew then attended a hedge and grass fire at a property near Much Marcle.

“Thankfully the fire was extinguished but a further thorough damping down took place using our rescue appliance,” the spokesperson said.

“Everyone is under a lot of pressure at the moment and the brigade is very busy, please be careful.”
