ASPIRING young actors are being invited to join two superb performers at The Market Theatre in Ledbury.

Following the unfortunate cancellation of the Big Sing August Workshops at Ledbury’s Market Theatre, actors Melissa Johns and her brother Jason Johns have stepped into the breach and will be running a Summer Holiday Drama Workshop Week at the Theatre from Monday 15 to Friday 19 August.

It will be a week filled with drama games, improvisation, character creating, devising, script writing/storytelling, confidence building and a whole load of fun.

The workshops will run from 9.30am to 3pm and are aimed at young people between the ages of 8 and 16.

The cost of the workshops is £85 if booked before 1 August and £95 if booked later (there are discounts for sibling bookings).

“We are delighted to be able to welcome back Melissa and Jason, both of whom have trodden The Market Theatre boards earlier their stage careers.

“It is a huge opportunity for local youngsters to be able to learn from the professionals”.

Melissa was Born in Hereford and raised in Ledbury, actor Melissa Johns is currently appearing as series regular Miss Scott in the seventh series of ITV’s Grantchester and is about to start on series 8 as well as recently making her West End debut in the Donmar Warehouse’s production of Henry V alongside Kit Harrington, which was screened across over 600 venues across the country as part of NT Live.

Johns has recently filmed for Celebrity Mastermind which will air later this year. She raised money for REACH, the charity that she is ambassador for and Finding Rainbows.

She has recently finished the first U.K. tour of her sell out one woman show - Snatched which received many 5 star reviews and gained much attention from National TV.

She has won multiple awards for her work championing women, young people and the disabled community.

She was also selected as Alumna of the year for the University of Essex and named as one of JCI’s 10 outstanding young persons of the world in 2017.
