WITH just over 10 weeks till Ledbury Carnival the Association is looking forward to meeting some new friends to our event on August 29.
We are delighted to welcome back the Buchanan Trust who attended our much smaller 'Party in the car park' last year.
The Buchanan Trust are a local Charity who do not receive the publicity given to many.
Over 100 years old, and situated near to Bosbury, they provide housing units for veterans and their families, in a small community setting, and offer access to work facilities, and the necessary retraining skills to return to civilian life.
Their work is ongoing and they plan to open 4 new cottages this summer.
They hope to team up with a group of motor-cycle enthusiasts who will bring restored former military motorbikes to view.
Further information can be found at info@buchanan-trust.org.uk
We will also be joined by the Hospice Angels, a group who work tirelessly to raise money for St Michaels Hospice at Bartestree, just outside Hereford.
Formed by Mike Pullin, the group have raised over £600,000 so far.
The group consists of Biking Enthusiasts who have regular 'ride-outs' and 'social events' to increase awareness and raise further funds.
Currently, one of their members, Rob Edwards, is returning from a ride to the Nordkapp, within the Arctic Circle to increase funds further. The amount raised so far is unknown, but what a terrific effort undertaken in poor weather conditions.
The Hospice Angels will be having a 'fund-raising' stall and also bringing motor
bikes for the enjoyment of our visitors.
Search Hospice Angels & Friends on Facebook, to follow their activities.
Another first for recent Carnivals, will be a visit by Phoenix, a vintage Steam Roller, operated by Phil Jones, and ably assisted by James Lilwall.
Ledbury Carnival is looking forward to meeting these new participants and hope Ledbury residents will find these exhibits of interest.
