An author and former journalist has visited a Ledbury care home to talk about his new novel.
Gary Bills, who used to write for the Ledbury Reporter, was invited to speak to residents at the new Deer Park Care Home as part of their World Book Day celebrations.
“I was made to feel very welcome, and it was actually the first time I’d read from the new novel in public, to anyone,” said Gary.
“I read a few passages, and in between I was asked a number of engaging questions about inspiration and research.
“I explained how reserarch is very important when it comes to historical fiction, and how the internet is a godsend for a great deal of research, because it is so easy to source old photographs, and these alone can give you good ideas for stories.
“I really enjoyed the occasion, and I hope that everyone else did too.”
Ledbury Poetry Festival
We reported last month on the publication of Gary's latest novel, Sleep not my Wanton, and plans for it to be promoted at the London Book Fair.
In a Facebook post, the care home said it was “fantastic” having Gary share his book with residents.
“We are looking forward to seeing him again for Ledbury Poetry Festival week,” they added.
Deer Park Care Home, which is run by Porthaven Care Homes, opened in Ledbury last month.
