TWO students from Ledbury are set to graduate from their university studies next week with First Class Honours degrees.
Brandon Caffull and Monika Chasazyrovaite will be among about 3,000 students who will graduate from the University of Worcester at a ceremony in the city’s cathedral.
Brandon, who earned his First Class degree in Physical Education and Sports Coaching Science, said: “It is an honour to achieve a First Class Honours degree from a university known for its high standards of education within the field of sport.”
The 22-year-old, a former John Masefield High School pupil, is currently studying for a PGCE in Evesham, with the hope of becoming a high school PE teacher.
Brandon received an Academic Scholarship from the University for high grades in his first year and, in his final year, has been awarded the ‘Keith Stokes-Smith Award’ for Outstanding Student Contribution to the School of Sport and Exercise Science.
Monika, who studied Business and Marketing, said: “A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement. First Class Honours is a fuel to keep striving.”
The 22-year-old is now working in the brand marketing team of a female technologies app, FLO, which is used for period tracking.
Monika, a creative performer since early childhood and former champion of rhythmic gymnastics in Lithuania, said: “The last year of university studies has been focused highly on digitalisation and technological management, which has been so practical.
“As a result, now I am part of female technologies empowering women health over the world.”
The University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor and Provost, Professor Sarah Greer, said: “The class of 2021 showed remarkable resilience and determination in the face of some unprecedented challenges during their studies, due to very difficult external circumstances.
“They have all done so well in earning a degree, through their hard work, perseverance and dedication. This should stand them in good stead as they move into their chosen careers.
“Our students who earned a First Class Honours should feel particularly proud of themselves – it is an outstanding achievement. Many congratulations to them and I wish them all the very best in their future careers.”
