IT WAS a lovely wedding the second time around for Lois and James Cull.
The couple had already tied the know in a ceremony in Leicester and then they did it all again for the benefit of resident Janet Sweatman who is Lois’s stepmum’s mother was unable to make the original wedding in Leicester.
Lisa Delahoy takes up the story of the day:
“The father of the Bride (Stuart) and Lois walked up the path to the groom waiting nervously (again!) in the marquee, to the tune played the first time around. We had a mini ceremony where they exchanged rings and read their poems to each other.
“Janet and the other guests concluded proceedings by pelting Lois and James with lots of rice.
“The living room opposite the tent erupted with claps and cheers as the other residents watched the wedding come to an end. One gentleman tapped the window with huge appreciation.
“We then cracked open a bottle of fizz and cut the rich & sticky lemony sponge. “Everyone in the tent had a slab of cake and I cut up the rest for the larger audience who were looking out of the living room window - everyone was smiling and having a jolly time.”
What is the name of the bride and groom - Lois Delahoy married James Cull - now known as Mr & Mrs Cull.
Where did they meet? - They met as a group of friends on a night out in Leicester in about 2011 - James was keen on Lois but Lois hadn’t noticed. Lois then left Leicester to study drama in Derby. On her return, after three years, James contacted her through Facebook and the rest is history.
What did the bride and groom wear? The bride wore a traditional ivory lace dress and veil made by hand in Leicester by Brides Of Bond Street. The groom wore a moss coloured tweed lounge suit with crimson detail which was picked up in the brides bouquet.
Did they have a honeymoon? They flew to Lanzarote and stayed in a fabulous hotel - Barcelo Teguise Beach in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote.
Where do the couple live? They live in Leicester. James is a game developer and Lois works on a stroke ward at the Leicester Royal Infirmary which became a covid ward last year.
How was the “second” wedding for Janet Sweatman? Janet absolutely loved the day. She was extremely excited before the event and apparently hasn’t stopped talking about it since. She was so sad that her vertigo meant attending the wedding in Leicester was impossible so to bring the wedding to her was amazing. Something she’ll always remember.
