A FATHER has spoken of his sadness after finding his beloved 18-year-old son’s grave desecrated.

Macca Davies was killed in a road traffic accident in March 2018, when his Renault Clio and an Iveco truck collided on the A4103 in Storridge.

His grave is still regularly visited by friends and family to pay their respects at St James the Great, in Rectory Lane, Cradley.

Mr Davies has shared pictures of the persons unknown, whom he believes are responsible, when he tracked down CCTV overlooking the site.

The images have had to be blurred for legal reasons, although Mr Davies said the top image looks to be of a woman and the bottom image, a man.

Simon Davies, 46, from Cradley, Herefordshire, who is Macca’s dad, said “The item that was stolen [small shrub] had very little financial value, but it was a Christmas gift from his Aunt..

“You expect a churchyard to be a safe place for loved ones to be laid to rest, and to think that someone would stoop so low to actually steal from a grave is upsetting as well as making the whole family very angry.”

West Mercia Police are aware of the theft and are investigating.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: “We received a report on 21 January that a plant had been stolen from a grave in Herefordshire on 19 January. Our enquiries are currently on-going.”

Tributes were paid to Macca, a former student at John Masefield High School in Ledbury, at the time of his death, who described him a ‘wonderful, caring, warm hearted, and kind young man’.

Colwall Wanderers also paid tribute to the teenager in March 2018, where 200 people turned up and a minute’s applause before the top-of-the-table clash at Colwall Green.

Secretary Rich Thick said: “The turnout was fantastic. It brought everyone together and showed there was a real community spirit.”
