LEDBURY bus users dismayed at the state of the tatty Orchard Lane bus stop will be pleased to hear that Herefordshire Council is planning a re-vamp.
But as yet no date has been given as to when that will happen.
Last week, local man Robin Cullen contacted the Reporter with the view that the condition of the bus stop, which serves buses and passengers for Gloucester, Redmarley and Newent was "dreadful".
This week, Herefordshire Council said the existing eyesore stop would be replaced "as soon as is practicable".
A Herefordshire Council spokesman said: "We are currently reviewing the condition of bus stops across the county and will look to replace the Orchard Lane bus stop as soon as practicable.
"If a member of the public is concerned about the condition of a bus stop, this can be reported online at www.herefordshire.gov.uk/reportaproblem."
The bus stop outside Tesco, in Orchard Lane has indeed seen better days.
The bench is in need of painting, with a great deal of bare wood exposed on the seating, and the bench itself appears to be a focus for littering.
As unsightly is the sub-surface plastic sheeting, much of which is now visible about the wood chip surface it is supposed to cover.
Speaking last week, local man, Robin Cullen linked its off-main road location to the neglect.
He said: "If a bus stop in the town centre was allowed to get into this state, people would be up-in-arms."
Now it appears that this stop, and other stops in the county, are set to get a make-over.
