LEDBURY Rotary has donated £1500 to Bosbury Primary, to help pay for new books for the school library.
A group of Ledbury Rotarians recently visited the school, to congratulate pupils on their high standard of work, after the youngsters took part in the regional heats of the Young Writer, Speaker and Photographer competitions, which are organised by Rotary.
Rotarian David Houghton awarded certificates to the best entries.
Ledbury Rotary spokesperson, Jan Long said: " Another surprise for the children came during the morning assembly when Rotary President Bernie Robertson presented a cheque for the sum of £1500 to the Head Teacher, Miss Maggie Spence to use for the purchase of books and other items for the school library.
"He remarked that Rotary was committed to providing assistance where possible in all spheres of the community, and that education was of vital importance for children’s future personal development."
Deputy Head Lee Dunn thanked the Rotarians and said: “This very generous donation to our school is hugely appreciated by the children who are looking forward to having lots of exciting new books to read. We hope your club members will visit us again once we have purchased all the new books.”
