YOUNGSTERS at Ashperton Primary had two good reasons to celebrate this week.
The school has just topped the primary school league tables in the local area, and Christmas is coming.
Parties were very much on the curriculum.
Head teacher, Chris Bandfield said: "We are delighted with the academic performance of Ashperton and our position in the league tables. This reflects the commitment of the entire school community in supporting the work of our dedicated, creative staff. I am so proud of our staff and children and the positive ethos that they create. It is especially pleasing after such a long period of building works."
Mr Bandfield added: "Our learning environment now includes four brand new classrooms and beautiful ancilliary spaces. Our Key Stage One block won an award from the Royal Institiute of British Architects."
He added: "We have now secured planning for an all-weather pitch which we are working to secure funding for. This will enable us to continue to develop our provision in sport and PE which has always been such a strength of our school. We have had a wonderful series of Christmas performances and this week we will continue celebrations with our Christmas disco and Christmas parties."
